|• Self Propelled float|
|• Design build|
The City of Waterloo was undergoing a corporate branding refresh at the same time their parade float was due for a rebuild. Great Lakes Scenic Studios met with City staff to reimagine their parade float in a way that would maximize civic engagement at a minimum cost to taxpayers.
Great Lakes recycled the chassis of the original float and proceeded to design a new float that would highlight some of the City's notable features. One of those features is the renowned Victoria Gardens and the horticultural footprint of the City in general. To that end, the design incorporated a tiered structure that would be suitable for highlighting different fauna depending on the time of year. This gave the float extra versatility to keep seasonal in parades throughout the year.
The float is self propelled, with camouflage screening scenically treated to minimize the visual footprint of the driver. There is ample platform space for several people to ride the float and engage the crowd. The design is crisp, simple and bright as is keeping with the modern new image that the City of Waterloo portrays.
