Main Stage with Giant Swirl
“Your work was just exceptional!  Thank you very much!”
Kevin Depinet - Scenic Designer

Fabrication Highlights:

• 105 foot feature swirl.
• Oversized paintings with gilded gold leaf frames standing 10 feet tall.

The recent production of Sense and Sensibility that graced the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre featured spectacular scenic elements carefully crafted by the crew here at Great Lakes Scenic Studios.

One of the most dramatic pieces was a sweeping 105 foot long swirl. Starting with a lightweight  aluminum frame built for strength, we added wooden cladding and finished it with a scenic paint treatment. it was a stunning feature piece on a grand scale.

Another memorable feature was the series of gigantic paintings that adorned the stage. The ornamental frames were gilded in gold leaf and housed large scenic prints. The timeline on this build was compressed so having all the talent in-house to execute the show was key in meeting the deadline and the budget.
