The El Anatsui exhibition at the Royal Ontario Museum involved making custom vitrines for the artifacts, millwork both off-site and on-site all while following strict museum protocols for fabrication and installation.
The exhibit itself was gorgeous and befitting of the cultural contribution that artist El Anatsui has made to the African contemporary art scene. Starting with padauk hardwood from his native continent, the whole exhibit was wrapped in rich hues and bold crisp lines. The key challenge of this particular project from a fabrication standpoint was ensuring that the work adhered to strict museum procedures for fabrication and installation. Working in a museum space come with its own special set of operational challenges. Great Lakes Scenic Studios decades of experience ensured that the entire job went smoothly from design concept through to installation.
